Vojtech Kovač and Zuzanna Katarína Lisoňová famly

The story that this family presents is interesting in both the facts that have been documented and the information that has eluded research. From the baptismal record of the cathedral of St. James in Levoča pictured below, we know that Zuzanna Katarína was baptized on October 21, 1849, her entry being number 157 for the year.

Examining the baptismal records for Zuzanna’s two sons, entries in the “notations” column shed more light on family.  On her older son, Jozef ’s baptismal record, his date of death of November 10, 1872 (aged 2 years) is given as well as where he died.  The Latin entry states “Mortuus Jaroslaviae in Galicia die 10 Novbr. 1872” indicating that he died in what is now Jarosław, Poland.  On her younger son, Vojtech’s baptismal record is a note “Legitimatus Kovacz Adelbertus. Jaroslaviae in Galicia die 16. Aprilis 1873” indicating that his birth was legitimized in the same city where his older brother died by virtue of his mother marrying Vojtech Kovač.  An inquiry was made in September of 2008 to the Przemysl Diocesan Archive which holds the records for the parish in Jarosław for the death record of Jozef Lisoň and the record of the marriage between Vojtech Kovač and Zuzanna Lisoňová.  The request has yet to be answered preventing us from verifying these family events, however Vojtech and Zuzanna are recorded as godparents for a number of Zuzanna’s younger brother, Jozef’s children.
